In A Pickle!
Cucumber and Sorachi Ace Sour
Malt: Gladfield Pilsner, Wheat, Flaked Wheat, Acidulated
Hops: Search Ace, Hallertau Tradition
Yeast: Lactobacillus, American Ale
Style: Fruit Sour
Well this is a right kerfuffle! The latest in our popular series of kettle sours aged on fruit technically continues. We started with our normal process of inoculating our kettle with our house strain of lactobacillus, pushed that into the fermentor for a couple of weeks... and suddenly, we decided to throw in the kings of fruit: cucumbers! Their refreshing aroma and slightly earthy flavour lend themselves nicely to our tart sour. On top of that, in went some Sorachi Ace hops. Known for smelling intensely of dill, these green and herbaceous hops pair nicely with the wild character of the cucumber. Cucumber, sour, dill... why, we've made a pickle beer! The only pickle you'll find yourself in, however, is whether to have one more or two.
